Geeta Kersellius, MPH, MBS, CPH, BEAM Certified, serves as a Research Project Manager at the Rutgers Center for State Health Policy, leveraging over fifteen years of extensive experience in the field of public health research and analysis. Ms. Kersellius holds a Master of Public Health (MPH) with a specialization in Epidemiology, as well as a Master of Biomedical Sciences (MBS) from Rutgers University's School of Public Health and Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences. She is currently pursuing a Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) in Leadership, Practice, and Research at the Rutgers School of Public Health, where she also contributes as a graduate student researcher at the Boggs Center on Disability and Human Development within the Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
Her professional trajectory encompasses significant roles across various sectors of public health. Ms. Kersellius completed her MPH fieldwork at the New Jersey Hospital Association, where she served as a research assistant with the Health Research and Educational Trust of New Jersey. Following the completion of her dual degree (MPH/MBS), she undertook an Epidemiology Fellowship with the U.S. Army Public Health Center’s Injury Prevention Program, located within the Epidemiology and Disease Surveillance Directorate. Her expertise subsequently facilitated her role at the Department of Defense's Global Respiratory Pathogen Surveillance Program at the U.S. Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine, where she functioned as a Senior Data Analyst and Epidemiologist, providing vital contributions to the Public Health Epidemiology Consult and Research Services Division. Additionally, Ms. Kersellius has held the position of Senior Data Analyst at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai within the World Trade Center Health Program General Responder Data Center, and she has worked as a SAS Programmer for the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps Public Health Center.
Most recently, she served as a Business Analyst and Healthcare Data Analyst at the Defense Health Agency within the Department of Defense, where she supported the Analytics and Evaluation Division. In her current capacity as a Research Project Manager, Ms. Kersellius is deployed in the Medicaid Office of Business Intelligence at the New Jersey Department of Human Services, Division of Medical Assistance and Health Services (DMAHS). Her work primarily emphasizes the advancement of analytical and data science capabilities within New Jersey Medicaid’s Office of Business Intelligence, focusing on the analysis of complex Medicaid claims data and the creation of innovative, data-driven tools and IT solutions. These efforts are aimed at enhancing trend identification, bolstering evidence-based decision-making, and improving the quality and efficiency of care delivered through NJ FamilyCare.
