About Dr. Palatucci

John S. Palatucci, PhD, MPA, is an Assistant Research Professor at the Rutgers Center for State Health Policy. He also serves as the Public Health Faculty Discipline Coordinator for New Jersey’s Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities (NJLEND) program located within the Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School’s Boggs Center on Developmental Disabilities. Dr. Palatucci is experienced in mixed-methods health services research and focuses much of his work on behavioral health and disability policy. Ongoing project work includes evaluating New Jersey Medicaid section 1115 demonstration waivers and providing analytic support across Center projects. He is also a co-investigator on a National Institutes of Health funded study, “The role of homelessness and supportive housing in healthcare disparities among adults in Medicaid” (R01MD015261).
Dr. Palatucci has been recognized for his work by the Network of Schools of Public Policy, Affairs, and Administration, with the Pi Alpha Alpha Master’s Student Manuscript Award (2017) for a project that examined the association of state mental health expenditures and juvenile violent crime rates. His work also involves public service, including his role as an advocate within "Do for One,” a relationship-building program that brings isolated people into greater community life. Before joining the Center in 2016, Dr. Palatucci was a Graduate Fellow at the Eagleton Institute of Politics. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Public Health (Health Systems and Policy) from Rutgers School of Public Health, a Master of Public Administration (Healthcare Administration) from the Rutgers School of Public Affairs and Administration, and a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Economics from the American University College of Arts and Sciences.
